Remedios Perni holds a Ph.D. in English Philology with a European distinction (2014) and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2016). She is also a graduate in both English Philology and Art History from the University of Murcia. Her doctoral thesis is interdisciplinary in nature, establishing connections between the work of William Shakespeare and visual culture.

She is particularly interested in politically engaged appropriations of Shakespeare and collaborations between scholars and activists. For this reason, she is the Principal Investigator (PI), along with Juan José Bermúdez de Castro (UIB), of the research project titled "Shakespeare, Activism and the Arts in the 21st Century" (PID2022-137873NA-I00), funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation (2023-2026). Previously, she led the project "Poetics of Activism: Literary and Cultural Intersectionalities in the English-Speaking World in the Contemporary Era" (2019-2021), with the support of the Department of Education, Culture, and Sport of the Valencian Community.

Perni has published on the role of Ophelia in the history of madness, melancholy, and photography, as well as on Shakespeare in the digital world and the Shakespearean appropriations of Angélica Liddell. She is also a translator of critical theory books and has translated works by Tim Murray ("Medium Philosophicum: hacia un pensamiento tecnológico del arte," Editum 2022), Mieke Bal ("Lexicon para el análisis cultural" and "Tiempos Trastornados," Akal 2016; 2021), and W.J.T. Mitchell ("La ciencia de la imagen," Akal 2019), among others.
