Lucía Molina Martínez is an assistant lecturer in Civil Law (qualified as a contract lecturer) at the University of Alicante. She received a PhD in Law with an international certification from the same University, after defending and obtaining the highest possible mark for her thesis «El daño indirecto o por rebote por causa de lesiones» [“Indirect damage caused by injuries”], published by Dykinson in 2023. She is a graduate in Law and Business Administration and Management and has completed the Master’s degrees in Legal Practice, Tort Law and Digital Society Law.

Her research focuses on civil liability, with particular attention to the study of new forms of damage and their legal protection in the face of social and technological changes. This line of research extends to the protection of personality rights, the protection of consumers, minors and other vulnerable groups, as well as the private law implications of artificial intelligence, Big Data and digital platforms. Her research also extends to the interaction between civil law and the Constitution, through which she examines the structure and evolution of private law institutions and their impact on the effective protection of constitutionally protected rights and interests. The results of her research have been published in various articles and presented in papers at national and international conferences.

She has taken part in various research projects focusing, amongst other issues, on liability arising from the use of artificial intelligence systems and on the legal protection of particularly vulnerable groups. She is currently Principal Investigator on the project «Hacia un modelo de juego responsable: protección de consumidores, menores y colectivos vulnerables frente a los desafíos actuales del juego y las apuestas, con especial atención al entorno digital» [‘Towards a model of responsible gambling: protecting consumers, minors and vulnerable groups from the current challenges posed by gambling and betting, with a particular focus on the digital environment’], with funding from the Valencia Region Government’s Department of Education, Universities and Employment (CIGE/2026/289). She is also a member of the projects «Incidencias del uso de la inteligencia artificial y Big Data en la salud digital y cirugía 4.0 (robótica y personalizada) y de su tutela jurídica por la normativa de la UE: propuestas de reforma y desarrollo legislativo» [‘Implications of the use of artificial intelligence and Big Data in digital health and Surgery 4.0 (robotic and personalised) and their legal framework under EU legislation: proposals for reform and legislative development’] (PID2024-155726OB-I00) and «Cuestiones jurídicas en torno a la discriminación algorítmica, en especial, por razón de género» [‘Legal issues surrounding algorithmic discrimination, in particular on the grounds of gender’] (GRE24-09B). She is also a member of the Research Group on Law and New Technologies (IUSTEC) (VIGROB-347) and the Research Group on Non-Contractual Liability (VIGROB-213), both affiliated with the University of Alicante.

She has been a visiting researcher at the Università LUMSA in Palermo, Italy, as well as a visiting lecturer at centres such as the Università degli Studi di Padova in Italy or the Universidade de Coimbra in Portugal, the latter within the framework of the Erasmus+ BIP (Blended Intensive Programme), where she taught, together with staff from other European universities, the course “Artificial Intelligence and Law”.
