Lucía Molina Martínez is an assistant lecturer in Civil Law (qualified as a contract lecturer) at the University of Alicante. She received a PhD in Law with an international certification from the same University, after defending and obtaining the highest possible mark for her thesis «El daño indirecto o por rebote por causa de lesiones» [“Indirect damage caused by injuries”], published by Dykinson in 2023. She is a graduate in Law and Business Administration and Management and has completed the Master’s degrees in Legal Practice, Tort Law and Digital Society Law.

As a result of her specialised training, her research work has focused mainly on civil liability and the legal impact of new technologies; she has several publications in these areas, also participating as a speaker at national and international conferences. More recently, she has become interested in current issues linked to personality rights and the protection of vulnerable groups, especially in contexts related to childhood and migration.

She has been an integral member of two research projects focused on the emergence of artificial intelligence in tort law: «Los desafíos planteados por la inteligencia artificial en el ámbito de la responsabilidad civil» [“Challenges posed by artificial intelligence in relation to civil liability”], with a grant awarded by the Valencia Region Government’s Department of Innovation, Universities, Science and Digital Society (GV/2021/018), and «La irrupción de la Inteligencia Artificial en el Derecho de daños y su adaptación a las nuevas tecnologías» [“The emergence of artificial intelligence in tort law and its adaptation to new technologies”] (PID2020-116185GB-I00), funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (2021-2024). She is currently a member of the research project «La Unión Europea ante los desafíos regulatorios de la Inteligencia Artificial: cuestiones de responsabilidad civil» [“The European Union in the face of the regulatory challenges of artificial intelligence: civil liability matters”], with funding from the Valencia Region Government’s Department of Education, Universities and Employment (CIGE/2023/196). She has also been a member of the Research Group in Tort Liability (VIGROB23-213) and the Research Group in Law and New Technologies (VIGROB-347), both at the University of Alicante.

She has been a visiting researcher at the Università LUMSA in Palermo, Italy, as well as a visiting lecturer at centres such as the Università degli Studi di Padova in Italy or the Universidade de Coimbra in Portugal, the latter within the framework of the Erasmus+ BIP (Blended Intensive Programme), where she taught, together with staff from other European universities, the course “Artificial Intelligence and Law”.

She has taught on the undergraduate degrees in Law, Tourism, Tourism and Business Administration, Labour Relations and Human Resources, International Relations and Social Work, as well as on the specialised Master’s degrees in Tort Law and Digital Society Law at the University of Alicante. She has also participated in teaching innovation projects, being the principal investigator of three of them. Her interest in this line of research has resulted in several publications and papers presented at specialised conferences, with special attention to the use of artificial intelligence in university education and the inclusion of students with specific educational support needs (SEN).
