Naima Benaicha Ziani is Associate (Full-time) Professor in the Area of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Department of Integrated Philology, Alicante (2010). She holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting (Arabic-English-Spanish) from the University of Oran, Algeria (1988) and from the University of Alicante (2009), and a PhD in Modern Languages and Literatures (2018) from the University of Alicante. She has directed the Algerian Review since its foundation until the end of 2019. She is currently co-director of the Permanent Seminar on Women and Gender in the Arab World, member of the University Institute for Research in Gender Studies (IUIEG) of the UA, member of the Equality Unit of the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the UA, member of ‘Laboratoire des Archives Cinématographiques’ of the University of Oran 1, Head of the Cooperation Area of the UNESCO Chair in Education, Research and Digital Inclusion: and member of the Interdisciplinary Research Group on University Teaching - Education and Information and Communication Technologies/Inclusive Education (GIDU-EDUTIC/IN). She has been Visiting Professor at the University of Abou Bakr Belkaid in Tlemcen and Oran 1 (Algeria) between 2014 and 2022, at the Universities of Liège (Belgium), University of Warsaw (Poland), Università Degli Studi Di Bari Aldo Moro and Università Ca' Foscari in Venice (Italy) and Allameh Tabataba'i University (2015-2019). She is also an Academic Expert in Institutional Projects (EU) such as Transform4Europe - T4EU: The European University for Knowledge Entrepreneurs and has been Project Manager of international cooperation initiatives in the field of higher education, funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union: ‘FREE: Female Academic Role Model Empowerment, Equality and Sustainability at Universities in Mediterranean Region: Towards 2030 Agenda’ (598524-ES-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP-2018-2473), DEMOS: Master Degree in Democratic Governance and Human Rights, MORALE: Capacity building for curricula modernization of Syrian and Lebanese HEIs and lifelong learning provision: towards sustainable NGOs management and operation with special focus on refugees, among others. Recently, she was appointed Cultural Advisor by CIHAR (Centro Internacional Hispano Árabe), in recognition of her experience and contributions in the Arab and Maghrebi cultural field.
