Candelaria Saiz Pastor is Lecturer of History and Economic Institutions in the Department of Applied Economic Analysis of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the University of Alicante. And research member of the University Institute of Social Studies of Latin America of the UA. She holds a Ph.D. in Economic History from the University of Alicante and an Extraordinary Doctorate Award in 1990 with a thesis on: Liberales y esclavista: the Spanish colonial domination in Cuba (1833-1865), with the highest grade of outstanding cum laude.
She has been an MEC Research Fellow of the CSIC between 1985 and 1988. In 1989 she began teaching as an interim lecturer at the University School, first, and acting professor at the University of History and Economic Institutions of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences at the University of Alicante.
Since 1992, she has been Professor at the University of History and Economic Institutions. Throughout these years he has taught in the Faculty of Economics in the degrees of Economics and ADE; And in the Business Diploma. Currently teaches in the degree of Economics and double degree in Law and Administration and Business Management (DADE).
She has participated in different R & D public research projects since 1985, first as a scholarship holder and later as a researcher. He is a specialist in Cuban economic history in the 19th century and, especially, in the Spanish colonial regime in that century. He has also worked on the Chambers of Commerce of Spain in Latin America and the Philippines
