Begoña Ribera Blanes obtained the degree of Doctor for her doctoral thesis "The author's right of reproduction and its limits" (Sobresaliente cum laude), work with which she began in the field of intellectual property and new technologies. Her research activity has earned him two six-year research periods (CNEAI).

Her knowledge of the subject led her to teach regularly since 2001 in various Master's Degrees and specialized courses on intellectual property at universities, such as the University of Alicante (Magister Lucentinvs and Master in Digital Society Law), the Autonoma University and the Carlos III University, both in Madrid. Already in 2005 she created the "Research Group on Intellectual Property" at the University of Alicante, of which she was director until 2021 and is still a member today. It should be noted that she is also a member of ALADDA (Literary and Artistic Association for the Defense of Copyright), a subsidiary of ALAI and of the Ibero-American Chair of Digital Culture and Intellectual Property (CDPI), made up of intellectual property experts from all over the world.

Since the beginning of her university career, which has spanned more than 27 years, intellectual property has been her main line of research, which has borne fruit in the publication of the monograph The right of reproduction in intellectual property (Dykinson 2002) and in her participation in the recent work The jurisprudence of the Court of Justice of the European Union in the field of intellectual property (Instituto de Autor 2022), to which are added 5 doctrinal articles and 10 chapters of 10 book chapters on various issues related to intellectual property. In addition, she has given more than eleven lectures on intellectual property and new technologies at different national and international congresses.

A large part of this scientific production has been developed within the framework of the five I+D+I projects in which it has participated and which have referred to issues of copyright and related rights, among which "Legal tools to promote access to content protected by intellectual property rights in the digital single market" (MINECO, 2018-2020).

Her research experience in the sector has been reflected in the collaboration to review jurisprudence in the journal Pe.i, Journal of Intellectual Property from 2008 to 2015, the provision of the external evaluation service of doctrinal works on intellectual property in specialized scientific journals, the direction of research works in the field of intellectual property (TFGs and TFMs), the preparation of a "Legal opinion on the viability of the online and open publication of the press dossier of the University of Alicante" in 2019, commissioned by this same entity and the direction of the doctoral thesis on "The necessary rebalancing of fair compensation for private copying in the digital single market" which was defended in 2021.
