Jesús Peral Cortés is a Full Professor at the University of Alicante (Dept. of Software and Computing Systems) since 2022. He has three positive evaluations of research periods and five positive evaluations of teaching periods (five-year periods).

The applicant's research activity is divided into two main areas: (1) multidimensional databases, Business Intelligence, Data Mining and information Integration; (2) Natural Language Processing (NLP), specifically in syntactic analysis and solving linguistic phenomena (eg. ellipsis and anaphora). He has applied these NLP techniques to Information Retrieval and Question Answering Systems on unstructured information, both monolingual and multilingual; and he has also applied them to the development of interfaces in natural language, in specific applications of Databases, and enriching traditional databases with unstructured information.

The applicant's research results are the following:

- Scientific publications: 29 JCR papers, 29 papers in not indexed journals, 37 conference papers and 5 invited talks.

- Principal Investigator (PI) in one National and one Regional Research Projects.

- Five PhD Thesis and 10 final degree projects advised.

- Participation in 44 national and 2 European research projects, private and public.

- Participation in one European excellence research networks.

- One patent in exploitation.

- International Stays in foreign universities (Chile, Costa Rica and Cuba) with a total duration of more than 12 months.

- Participation in program, organizing committees and reviewer of national and international conferences and journals (more than 20 participations).

He has been director of the PhD program "Aplicaciones de la Informática" (PhD program with Excellence Mention from 2005 to 2009) taught by the Department of Software and Computing Systems (DLSI) from 2002 to 2009. The applicant has been the Academic Secretary of the abovementioned department from 2009 to 2013. He has also taught subjects of the PhD Program. It is important to emphasize that he has always collaborated in the teaching of subjects at other international universities since DLSI has taught its PhD Program at the Universidad Latina at Costa Rica (2005,2006,2007), University of Matanzas at Cuba (2006,2007,2008 and 2009) and Universidad de la Frontera at Chile (2009,10). The applicant has been prominently involved in these international programs, allowing him to make several teaching and research stays. These years of academic management positions (2002-2013) reduced his scientific activity (and consequently the obtained publications) and caused a change in his research activity since 2010, reorienting it towards multidimensional databases, Business Intelligence and Information Integration (semi-structured and structured both internal and external).
