I began my professional career as a clinical nutritionist in 2005, after graduating in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from the Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM). I subsequently combined my professional activity with studies in Physiotherapy, graduating in 2010 from Cardenal Herrera CEU University. My postgraduate training includes, among others, a Master’s Degree in Orofacial Pain and Craniomandibular Dysfunction and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Medicine Research. For several years, I also worked in clinical practice specialising in orofacial pain and craniomandibular dysfunction.
In 2020, I obtained a PhD in Translational Medicine with Cum Laude distinction, with a doctoral thesis focused on the effects of an intradialytic exercise programme on inflammatory and oxidative stress biomarkers in patients with chronic kidney disease. My research activity has mainly focused on therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation, chronic kidney disease, nutrition and body composition, the microbiota and pain, while in recent years I have developed new lines of research related to Human Anatomy and the study of anatomical variations.
I have undertaken several teaching and research stays at national and international universities, including a research stay at the Complutense University of Madrid related to the study of anatomical variations; a teaching stay at the National University of the Littoral in Argentina; and a postdoctoral research stay at the University of Medical Sciences of Havana in Cuba. The latter focused on knowledge transfer in therapeutic exercise for patients with chronic kidney disease and on university education.
My teaching experience has focused primarily on the field of Human Anatomy. I began as an Associate Professor in 2016 at Cardenal Herrera CEU University, where I taught on the Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy. I subsequently collaborated with Miguel Hernández University of Elche in the supervision of Master’s theses and, during the 2023-2024 academic year, worked at the European University of Valencia, where I taught on the Nursing and Physiotherapy degree programmes and carried out academic coordination duties for the Nursing, Physiotherapy and Psychology degree programmes.
I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Optics, Pharmacology and Anatomy at the University of Alicante, where I teach Human Anatomy on the degree programmes in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing and Medicine. Since the 2025-2026 academic year, I have been the coordinator of the Human Anatomy course in the Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition and Dietetics. I have also received positive accreditation from ANECA for the academic rank of Associate Professor (Profesor Titular de Universidad).
