Javier Martínez Falcó is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Organization at the University of Alicante and a Research Fellow in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at Stellenbosch University. He holds a PhD with international distinction in the field of Business, Economics and Society, a distinction obtained through his predoctoral research stay at Sonoma State University (United States, 2022). In addition, he has completed fifteen postdoctoral research stays at Stellenbosch University (South Africa, 2023), Burgundy School of Business (France, 2022, 2023 and 2024), Lublin University of Technology (Poland, 2023), RMIT University Vietnam (Vietnam, 2024), Universidad Nacional de Cuyo (Argentina, 2024), Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil, 2024, 2025), Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez (Chile, 2024), Universidad de la República (Uruguay, 2024), Universidad de Santiago de Chile (Chile, 2024), East Kazakhstan Technical University (Kazakhstan, 2025), KEDGE Business School (France, 2025), University of Zagreb (Croatia, 2025), University of Ljubljana (Slovenia, 2025), and Gyeongsang National University (South Korea, 2025).

Throughout his research career, on the one hand, he has published numerous articles in leading academic journals such as Journal of Cleaner Production, Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, Journal of Intellectual Capital, Regional Studies, Management Decision, and British Food Journal, among others, indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR) and/or SCOPUS. He currently has more than 70 JCR-indexed publications. On the other hand, he has published over 150 book chapters and 35 books, most of them with prestigious publishers in the field of Social Sciences, including Tirant lo Blanch, Routledge, De Gruyter, Emerald, Springer, Palgrave Macmillan, and IGI Global (Q1 in the Scholarly Publishers Indicators). His research has been disseminated through more than one hundred contributions as a speaker at national and international conferences, and he has also served as a member of scientific and organizing committees at several academic events. Among these, his role as co-founder of the International Conference on Food and Wine Tourism Strategic Management for Sustainable Regional Development, the Conference on Economics and Management of Wine Companies, and the Wine Tourism Conference is particularly noteworthy.

As a lecturer, his teaching experience focuses on the field of business management. He has taught courses related to strategic management in the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration (BA), as well as in the double degrees in Law and Business Administration, Tourism and Business Administration, and Engineering and Business Administration, in addition to the Bachelor’s Degree in Gastronomy and Culinary Arts. In this context, he has supervised several Bachelor’s and Master’s theses and has frequently served as a member of examination boards for Bachelor’s and Master’s thesis defenses. He is a tutor in the Academic Mentoring Programme and a mobility tutor at the Faculty of Economics and Business.
