Elena Llorca holds a Ph.D. in Sociology, with industrial and international mentions. She is a Professor in the Department of Sociology I at the University of Alicante, where she teaches in the Sociology, Law and Criminology degrees, and in the Master's in Social Innovation and Dynamics of Change. She is a member of the SOC-INNOVA Research Group, and her research interests lie in the societal implications of emerging technologies, particularly in relation to misinformation, education, and communication.
Currently, she collaborates with technology companies in developing solutions involving virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and ICT, leveraging her professional experience in directing and coordinating technological projects in both the public and private sectors. Previously to her rol at the University, she served as Director of the Observatory for the Information Society (Cevalsi) and Director General of the Valencian Office for the Information Society.
From 2018 to 2021, she was the Dean of the College of Political Science and Sociology of the Valencian Community, and she currently serves on the Board of Directors.
