Bio
Fellow in the Department of Arab and Islamic Studies (1983-85); Research Fellow (1988-1991) and PhD in the Spanish Distance Education University’s (UNED) Department of Medieval History (Madrid, 1993), University Assistant (1992), Assistant Lecturer in Arab and Islamic Studies (1995), and Professor in the Department of Modern Languages of the University of Alicante since 2003.
As national representant of the area of Arab and Islamic Studies he has participated in the Working Group of the ANECA (Independent Evaluatory Agency of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Universities) which was in charge of the preparation of the White Book on the Languages, literatures and cultures in the Spanish university (2005-6). Nowadays is evaluator for the ANECA Agency, and has make reports for other regional agencies of researchers’ evaluation (Murcia, Catalonia, Andalusia).
Member of Scientific Committee of 7 journals on Arab and Islamic History and Culture.
