JORGE FERNÁNDEZ HERRERO has a PhD in Educational Innovation from the University of Alicante and a degree in Architecture. Currently, he is Assistant Professor at the Department of Didactics and School Organization, Department of General Didactics and Specific Didactics.
Author of articles published in national and international journals and several book chapters, he focuses on the following lines of research: use of creativity and information and communication technologies as educational tools, with special sensitivity to students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). His most recent publications are: The first steps for adapting an artificial intelligence emotion expression recognition software for emotional management in the educational context (2023); Creative group activities for the improvement of social and emotional competencies of youth with ASD (2022); Gender and territory in the vicious circle of school failure (2022); Virtual drawing as a previous educational intervention in autism spectrum disorder: A case study (2021); An immersive virtual reality educational intervention on people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) for the development of communication skills and problem-solving (2019); Transition to College for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder: Needs and Facilitation Strategies. Is Virtual Reality a Useful Tool in the Transition Process?(2019); A Bibliometric Study on the Use of Virtual Reality (VR) as an Educational Tool for High-Functioning Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Children (2018); He has also presented papers in relevant national and international congresses, seminars and conferences, within this same field of research.
He is also part of the Interdisciplinary Research Group in University Teaching-Education and Information and Communication Technologies/Inclusive Education, currently collaborating in projects of excellence in Educational Research at regional level and having previously participated in sustainability projects at national level.
