Anna Esteve Guillén holds a PhD in Catalan Philology and is a member of the Transversal Studies Group, with which she has helped organise various international seminars, and the UA’s Contemporary Literature Research Group, where she works and has served as Deputy Head of the Department of Catalan Philology and Vice-Dean for Quality and Language Policy in the Faculty of Education (2017–2025).

Her main areas of research are: autobiographical literature and autofictional strategies; the role of social media in promoting reading and the construction of the non-academic canon; and the teaching of literature and children’s and young adult literature.

With regard to the first area, she has been a member of various research projects focused on the study of Catalan autobiographical literature (2003–2014); the results of these projects include El dietarisme català entre dos segles (Serra d’Or Prize), and studies published in various monographs and international journals (Caplletra, Quaderns de Filologia, Zeitschrift für Katalanistik, Ocnos, Bulletin of Contemporary Hispanic Studies, etc.), some of which deal with the memoirs and diaries of Joan Fuster, Teresa Pàmies, Ferran Sáez Mateu, Pere Gimferrer, Carmelina Sánchez-Cutillas and Feliu Formosa, amongst others. She currently co-directs, alongside M. Àngels Francés, the ‘Gender and Autofiction’ project (PID2024-160371NB-I00).

She has also taken part in various research projects related to reading: ‘Virtual Spaces for the Promotion of Books and Reading’ (2016) and ‘The Non-Academic Literary Canon’ (2020). Some of the publications resulting from this research are included in works such as Claus per a promocionar la lectura en xarxa (2018), Los libros que leemos ¿quién, dónde y cómo se decide? La construcción del canon no académico (2025), as well as other publications related to the promotion of reading and picture books. She has also acted as an adviser to the Foundation for Books and Reading on the development of the Valencian Reading Plan.
