PhD in Sociology (Extraordinary Doctorate Award, 2018), he is a professor and researcher in the Department of Sociology I of the University of Alicante. His work is mainly oriented towards social innovation, both in the field of academic research and in the technical-methodological coordination of intervention projects. In addition, he is a founding member of the Sociology of Innovation and Social Change (SOC-Innova) research group at the University of Alicante.
Thus, he is specialized in the implementation of innovation processes applied to institutional management with the aim of improving the relationship between the administration and citizens, the design of public policies, governance, transparency and the legitimacy of political action. This work is reflected in his activity as a planner, coordinator and methodological advisor in projects for social transformation in community spaces that seek change through endogenous mechanisms. Some of the most recent are the design of the Strategic Youth Plan of the Alicante City Council, the socio-community process in the neighborhoods of Las Remudas and La Pardilla in Telde (Gran Canaria) or the Plan for the promotion of employment in the Valencian Community.
Likewise, he has recently participated in academic projects such as the Latin American Social Innovation Network, financed by the European Commission, or the Online Course on Methods of Social Participation of Rome in the Policy Design to Improve Their Health, of the Foundation Open Society Institute (FOSI). In addition, he is a member of the evaluation committee of the annual call for subsidies to non-profit entities for the promotion of Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship organized by the Local Agency for Economic and Social Development of the Alicante City Council.
He shares all this experience acquired over the years with the students of the Master's Degree in Social Innovation and Dynamics of Change, where he teaches the subject Strategic planning, design, execution and evaluation of social innovation projects, of which he is coordinator. He also uses this to teach in the Degree in Sociology in the subjects of General Sociology I and II and in International Relations where he teaches Comparative Social Systems.
He has published books, book chapters and specialized articles on participatory methodologies, the role of deliberation in defining the architecture of participatory processes, the analysis of democracy and its dimensions, as well as sectoral studies such as those carried out on young people. and how their values ¿¿influence understanding and participation in democratic processes, among others.
