Degree in Classical Philology from the University of Salamanca (1993). PhD in Latin Philology from the University of Alicante (2005). Teacher at the University of Alicante (since 2002). Associate Professor of University (2015). Coordinator of the Latin Filology Area (since 2014). Member of  different research projects.

His lines of research focus on medieval Latin philology and the critical edition of medieval Latin texts, with particular interest in Islamo-Christian religious controversies and texts referring to the Crown of Aragon.

He has carried out the critical edition of the complete works of the Dominican Alfonso Buenmujer (14th century) for the Corpus Christianorum collection (volume 295). Buen Hombre's legacy, of a heterogeneous nature, is made up of five works: Epistola Samuelis, Disputatio Abutalib, Contra Malos Medicos, Historia Ioseph and Legenda Sancti Antoni.

He has produced the critical edition of the complete works of Pere Marsili, a 14th-century Majorcan Dominican, which includes the Latin version of Jaume I's Llibre dels fets, titled Liber gestorum regis Iacobi, and an apologetic text against Islam titled Epistola ad Abdalla. This edition is part of the collection Corpus Christianorum Continuatio Mediaevalis (volume 273).
He has made the first translation into Spanish of Lorenzo Valla's work De falso credita et mentita Constantini donatione, better known as Refutation of the Donation of Constantine, a work of enormous impact on the Renaissance and of great weight in the history of philology, published by Akal in 2011. He has also edited the first Latin version of the apocryphal Historia Ioseph et Asenet, a critical edition that is accompanied by an introduction and Spanish translation, published in the "Nueva Roma" collection of the CSIC in 2012, as well as the critical edition and translation of the Descendentia regum Sicilie by Pau Rossell, a 15th century Valencian notary, who wrote the work commissioned by King Alfons el Magnànim, published in 2019 by the University of Valencia.

He has carried out research and teaching stays at the Warburg Institut (University of London), Officina di Studi Medievali (Palermo, Italy), Universidad Nacional del Litoral (Santa Fe, Argentina), Université de Perpignan and University of Michigan (USA).

His lines of research, reflected in his publications, have also focused on lexicographic works referring to the Latin texts of the Kingdom of Valencia and medieval translations from Arabic to Latin, without neglecting some aspects related to local themes, such as the Misteri d'Elx or the old Alicante office of Santa Faç.

He is a member of the International Medieval Latin Committee. He is a member of the scientific committee of the eHumanista-IVITRA magazine, of the Argos magazine, of the Codolga magazine, of the International Virtual Institute of Translation and the Società Internazionale per lo Studio del Medioevo Latino. He is a founding member of the European Academy of Religion, created in 2016 by the European Parliament under the auspices of UNESCO.
