Miguel Ángel Albujer Lax (pronouns: he/him) holds a BA in Hispanic Studies (1994–1999) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics from the University of Alicante, awarded with an International Doctorate distinction. He also completed an MA in English and Spanish as Foreign/Second Languages (2011–2012), for which he received the Extraordinary Master’s Award, and furthered his training at Hogeschool van Utrecht (the Netherlands). In addition, he has undertaken specialised training in the teaching of Spanish as an additional language at the Instituto Cervantes.
He has developed his teaching career in Spain and in a variety of European contexts. He has undertaken teaching placements in the Netherlands (1998), Austria (2012), Romania (2025), China (2025), and Finland (2026). He also completed a three-month research stay at the University of Milan as a visiting lecturer (2024). In addition, he has experience as a coordinator in private educational institutions. He currently works as a lecturer at CIEE within Study Abroad programmes and has worked as a trainer of Spanish language teachers in different European contexts. He is an examiner for the DELE diplomas and has served as a placement tutor on several master’s programmes and teacher-training courses.
He has published graded readers for Spanish language teaching, as well as articles on audiovisual competence and inclusive communication. His research focuses in Spanish as an aditional language, sex-affective diversity and inclusive language. Since the 2023/24 academic year, he has served as a substitute lecturer in Linguistics at the University of Alicante.
