Víctor Santana is an ecologist interested in the ecology of fire and an environmental management based on scientific knowledge. His research is mainly divided into two blocks: (i) the impact of disturbances such as fire and drought on Mediterranean ecosystems, as well as (ii) the management and restoration of these ecosystems.
Throughout his career, he has worked in national institutions as the University of Barcelona (Post-doctoral Researcher; 2015-2017) or the Mediterranean Center for Environmental Studies– CEAM (Senior Researcher; 2019-2024). At international level, he has worked at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom (Postdoctoral Researcher; 2012-2014) and the University of Aveiro in Portugal (Postdoctoral Researcher; 2015). In addition, he has carried out research stays at the University of Wollongong in Australia and the Oklahoma State University in the United States of America. Since 2024, he is Associate Professor in the Ecology Department of the University of Alicante and, since 2025, he is director of the Font Roja Natura UA Scientific Station.
