Lecturer at the Department of Translation and Interpreting studies of the University of Alicante in charge of undergraduate modules in Arabic language and Introduction to Arabic/Spanish translation. Mariví has a degree in Arabic Philology from the University of Alicante. During her studies she conducted a study abroad placement at the University of Damascus School of Modern Languages (Syria) and upon graduation she served as Spanish Language Assistant at the University of Amman in Jordan. She has also earned an MA in International Relations and Communication from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a PhD in sociology of Islam from the Autónoma University of Madrid.
Her thesis and post-doctoral research, which included fieldwork in Algeria, Morocco and Jordan dealt with female approaches to the transmission of Islamic knowledge. She is also interested in various aspects of gender and the Arabic language. Since the completion of her thesis in 2018, she has been the sole author of 6 papers in indexed open-access journals and 4 book chapters. Her dissemination of research and knowledge transfer activities include lectures and paper presentations at international conferences and a wide range of national workshops.
She has been involved in various international and national research projects and groups as an expert in Islamic and Arabic culture, migration, as well as Muslim comunities and Islam in diaspora.
