María del Carmen Pastor Sempere is Lecture of Commercial Law at Alicante University, Spain. Since the 2017-2018 academic year, she holds a Director of GRUPO BAES. BAES is a blockchain lab at the University of Alicante’s Institute of International Economics. BAES is formed by a multidisciplinary group of researchers, jurists, economists and engineers (IT and industrial), from different universities and law firms.Its primary objective is to develop blockchain technology in the fields of public administration and private enterprise to reach a European blockchain standard, which will be the key to consolidating the European Single Market and strengthening the competitiveness of European companies. Part of the BAES mission is to accomplish this goal through the transfer of knowledge and focusing heavily on blockchain technology training.

She studied Law and Social Economy, and she holds a Doctor in Law degree in Alicante University. She also held visiting teaching or research positions at a number of universities and research centers such as, Institut für Genossenschaftswessen,   Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität (Westphalia  Germany.), UNIDROIT, Istituto italiano di studi cooperativi luigi Luzzati (Rome, Italy), Université  Lille 2 Droit et Santé. (Lille, France), Centro de Estudios sobre Desarrollo Cooperativo y Comunitario (CEDECOM) de la Universidad de Pinar del Río (Cuba), Grupo de Estudo e Pesquisa, Trabalho e desenvolvimento na Amazônia- (GEPTDA), Universidade Federal do Pará (Belém, Pará , Brasil), Centro de Ciencias Agrárias, Universidade Estadual de Maringá (Maringá, Paraná, Brasil).

  Her main research interests focus on digital law (Fintech,  crowdfunding, blockchian,  criptocurrency, tokenomics, shared economy,  electronic platforms P2P, digital intermediaries, Decentralized Market, Circular economy), Social Economy (is formed by a rich diversity of enterprises and organisations, such as cooperatives, mutuals, associations, foundations, social enterprises and paritarian institutions)  and on insolvency  rules  that cover  a  wide  range  of  measures  from  early  intervention  before  a  company gets  into  serious  difficulties, (like preventive restructuring frameworks, second chance and measures to increase the efficiency of restructuring, insolvency and discharge procedures).

Dr. Pastor Sempere is, inter alia, Arbitrator at the Valencian Court of cooperative Arbitration and, member of the FinTech Observatory https://www.fin-tech.es/,  and Member of the Experts Study Group on Corporate Governance COMMENDA, http://www.commenda.es/, Member of the Escuela de Especialización Profesional de Estudios Cooperativos de la Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales  Complutense University (Madrid), and legal adviser to  regional governments in the drafting of new legislation on  Social Economy.
