María Isabel Orts-Cortés holds a First-cycle Degree in Nursing, a Master's Degree in Nursing Science, and a PhD (Special Award) from the University of Alicante. She is currently a lecturer at the Department of Nursing of the University of Alicante's Faculty of Health Sciences, where she has conducted 4 research activity periods. She teaches Research Methods and Evidence-based Practice in the UA undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Human Nutrition and Dietetics, as well as in Master's Degrees and PhD programmes in Nursing (Universitat Jaume I and UA). She has also been a lecturer in research methods for nursing science, obstetrics and gynaecology for over 10 years. She has been a member of the Scientific Board for the Framework Agreement between Instituto de Salud Carlos III and the Valencia Region Department of Health, aimed at creating a centre in the Region of Valencia (CCEJBI) to cooperate with Joanna Briggs Institute for Evidence-Based Healthcare.
For six years she also held the following managing positions: Director of the pre-departmental Nursing unit of Universitat Jaume I (UJI), and Academic Secretary of the University of Alicante's Nursing School. Her research projects have been supported with human resources allocation. She has directed or codirected 11 PhD theses and supervised over 30 master's final projects in Nursing Science at the University of Alicante and the UJI.
