Dr. Vicente Morell is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics, Systems Engineering, and Signal Theory at the University of Alicante, as well as a researcher in the Human Robotics (HURO) group. He holds a degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Alicante (2010) and a PhD in Advanced Computing from the same university (2014). His doctoral dissertation was awarded the Best PhD Award in the field in 2018. He completed a research stay at the prestigious University of Edinburgh under the supervision of Professor Robert Fisher, funded through a competitive public call.
His main areas of interest include traditional computer vision, mobile robotics, and machine learning (Deep Learning).
Outside of academia, he worked for five years at a company specializing in visual inspection machinery for food products, where he had the opportunity to apply and expand his knowledge of computer vision.
