María José Mompeán Mejías holds a bachelor's degree in Translation and Intepreting from the University of Alicante, where she obtained the Extraordinary Degree Award and the Academic Excellence Award from the Generalitat Valenciana. She also completed the Master's Degree in Translation and Interpreting Research at the University Jaume I and the Master's Degree in teacher training at the University of Alicante with honours (the the Extraordinary Master's Degree Award). In 2023 she won two grants (FPU and FPI) to continue her studies. She is currently working as predoctoral researcher FPI (within the project PID2021-128381NB-I00 of the Ministry of Science and Innovation) in the Departament of Catalan Studies and is member of the research groups VIGROB-125 and ISIC-IVITRA of the University of Alicante. Her research is mainly focused on graphic medicine, medical communication tools, doctor-patient communication, metaphor, and multimodality.
