Jose-Norberto Mazón is Professor of Computer Languages and Systems at the University of Alicante. He is also a member of the WaKe research group of the Department of Computer Languages and Systems at the University of Alicante and of the University Institute for Research in Computer Science. His research work focuses on data search and discovery, data spaces, open data management, data integration and business intelligence in big data scenarios and the design of data-intensive web applications. In addition, he has participated in R&D projects on data spaces, smart destinations and smart cities with special emphasis on open data management and data sharing. He has published his research in international journals such as Decision Support Systems, Information Sciences, Data & Knowledge Engineering, ACM Transaction on the Web or Current Issues in Tourism. He has also taught courses and workshops on the concept of reuse of public sector information and the opportunities that open data ecosystems provide for a city. He was also part of the team that developed the open data and transparency project of the University of Alicante, including its open data portal: datos.ua.es. He is currently PI of the University Laboratory of Intelligent Tourism project (TI-LAB, https://lab.turismodetorrevieja.com/) where he leads the line of work on open data management for tourism. He is co-founder of InferIA (https://inferia.io/), a spin-off of the University of Alicante dedicated to data search and discovery.
