Jose-Norberto Mazón is director of the University of Alicante's (UA) Torrevieja Venue and a full professor at the UA. He is also a member of the WaKe research group from the UA Department of Software and Computing Systems. His research work focuses on open data management, integration of data and business intelligence in big data scenarios and design of intensive web applications concerning data use. He has also been involved in R&D projects on smart tourist destinations and smart cities, with a focus on open data management. His research has been published in high-impact journals worldwide such as Decision Support Systems, Information Sciences, Data & Knowledge Engineering, ACM Transaction on the Web or Current Issues in Tourism. Moreover, he has taught courses and workshops on the concept of re-use of public sector information and the opportunities opened up by open data ecosystems for cities. He was also part of the team that developed the University of Alicante's open data and transparency project, including its open data portal: datos.ua.es.
