Dr. Francisco A. Candelas received the Computer Science Engineer and the Ph.D. degrees in the University of Alicante (Alicante-Spain) in 1996 and 2001 respectively. He is Associate Professor in the Department of Physics, Systems Engineering and Signal Theory of the University of Alicante (UA) since 2003. He also researches in the Automation, Robotics and Computer Vision Group (AUROVA) since 1998, and also belongs to the U. I. for Computer Research (IUII) of the UA since 2013. Within the AUROVA group, he has involved in several research projects and networks supported by the Spanish Government, as well as development projects in collaboration with regional industry. Currently, his main research topics are autonomous robots, robot development, and virtual/remote laboratories for teaching. Regarding his teaching work, he coordinates and teaches subjects in the Robotics Engineering Degree of the UA since the beginning of the same in the 2015-16 academic year, and he is Head of Studies of this degree since 2019. Dr. Candelas also belongs to the Spanish Automatic Committee (CEA) since 1999.
