Dr. Antonio Canals is a Full Professor in the Department of Analytical Chemistry and Food Sciences at the University of Alicante (Spain). He obtained his BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Alicante (Spain). After completing his doctorate, he undertook two postdoctoral stays, in 1987 and 1993, in the research group led by Dr. Rick Browner at Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta (USA). His research interests lie on aerosol technology for atomic spectrometry, chromatography, and sample preparation, specifically the development and application of green extraction procedures with environmental and food-related relevance. In 2011, he was awarded the title of 'Doctor Honoris Causa' by the University of Plovdiv 'Paisii Hilendarski' (Bulgaria). Dr. Antonio Canals has published over 170 articles in peer-reviewed journals, as well as several books and book chapters. He has also co-edited a book on analytical nebulizers, and is the co-author of seven patents. He has served as an editorial advisory board member of Talanta (Elsevier), Separations (MDPI), Advances in Sample Preparation (Elsevier), and Atomic Spectroscopy (Atomic Spectroscopy Press Ltd.).
