She has been a biologist since 1995 and she has a PhD in Marine Ecology in 2002, both from the University of Alicante (UA), Spain. She worked as a researcher in the Spanish Institute of Oceanography in the Balearic Islands. Currently, she works as a senior researcher at the Center of Marine Research in Santa Pola (UA) and as an assistant professor in this University, where he has taught different subjects in the Degree of Marine Sciences, the Degree in Gastronomy and the Master in Biodiversity Conservation. Her main research goals have been the marine zooplankton and zoobenthos (mainly in macroinvertebrates), marine phanerogams and maërl grounds and conservation of marine biodiversity. She is currently involved in the study of alien invasive marine species in the Spanish Mediterranean. She has participated in more than 25 research projects, being the last ones the LIFE+ projects INDEMARES (www.indemares.es) and INTEMARES (www.intemares.es), being this last one still operational. She has also a dilated experience in oceanographic research campaigns.
She has more than 25 years of experience in marine biology and ecology and sampling methodology of zooplankton. She has more than 20 international publications, 5 book chapters and more than 30 communications to congresses, she has also participated in several technical reports related to marine conservation and ecology aspects.
