Salvador Baena-Morales is an Associate Professor in the area of Didactics of Body Expression at the University of Alicante. His teaching and research career focuses on Physical Education, sustainability, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the 2030 Agenda, educational innovation, social justice, and the development of employability competencies.
He is the director of the PEAK research group (Physical Education and Knowledge Advancement), through which he promotes projects aimed at analysing and strengthening the role of Physical Education in students’ holistic development and in educational transformation. He has participated in national, regional, and international research projects, and is the Principal Investigator of the competitive project EDUFISE (Physical Education for Sustainability and Employability), funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.
His scientific production includes more than 120 articles published in academic journals, mainly indexed in reference databases such as JCR and SJR. His work has appeared in international journals such as Sport, Education and Society, Physical Education and Sport Pedagogy, European Physical Education Review, Teaching and Teacher Education, Sustainable Development, International Journal of Sustainability in Higher Education, Quest, and The Lancet Planetary Health.
In addition to his research activity, he carries out extensive work in knowledge transfer, teaching innovation, and the training of early-career researchers. He has supervised doctoral theses, numerous bachelor’s and master’s dissertations, and has coordinated transfer activities related to sustainability, transversal competencies, and Physical Education. His innovation and transfer activity has been recognised, among other merits, with the FUNDEUM Award for the best innovation and knowledge-transfer project at the University of Alicante.
He also holds editorial responsibilities in international scientific journals, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of special issues in European Journal of Education, Associate Editor of BMC Public Health, and Guest Editor in Sport, Education and Society.
