Francisco Alonso was born in Villena (Alicante) in 1963, although his life has always been linked to the village of Beneixama (Alicante). He obtained his B. Sc. (1986), M. Sc. (1988), and Ph. D. (1991) degrees in Chemistry at the University of Alicante. In 1992 he received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. After a postdoctoral stay (1992-1994) as a Fleming scholar at the University of Oxford (UK), with Professor S. G. Davies, he moved back to the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Alicante. He is currently Full Professor of Organic Chemistry. He is co-author of 127 articles, 4 patents and 5 book chapters. Member of the editorial board of Current Green Chemistry (Bentham Publishers) and Nanomaterials (MDPI). His research focuses on the development of new synthetic methodologies based on transition metal nanoparticles and the synthesis of structures present in natural or synthetic products with prominent biological activity. He has been director of the Institute of Organic Synthesis and coordinator of the doctoral programme in Organic Synthesis (2013-2021). He is a member of the Institute of Organic Synthesis (ISO) since its foundation and a founder member of the Technological Base Company Medalchemy S. L.
