Consolidar un grupo investigador especializado en una materia de trascendencia social indudable. Realizar trabajos de investigación que puedan servir de orientación en la resolución de problemas reales. Establecer líneas de contacto con operadores sociales (asociaciones, entidades públicas...) encargadas de la protección y tratamiento de situaciones de discapacidad o dependencia. Fomentar la realización de actividades y eventos relacionados con la materia.
This is a competitive research group, recognised by the University of Alicante in 2007. At present, seven UA researchers and two assistant researchers are affiliated with the group. Its members include four university professors, three senior lecturers and a teacher accredited as a senior lecturer.
The group has taken part in 59 R&D projects and contracts and joined 11 R&D committees since its creation. Remarkable research projects include “Nuevos desafíos del Derecho biomédico en la protección jurídico-civil de las personas mayores” [“New challenges of biomedical law for the legal-civil protection of the elderly”] (PID2022-139899OB-I00); “El derecho a la salud, personas mayores y autonomía personal” [“The right to health, the elderly and personal autonomy”]; “Las nuevas bases del consentimiento informado” [“The new principles of informed consent”] (ICAR Foundation); “Armonización del Derecho de familia derivado de las Técnicas de Reproducción Humana Asistida” [“Harmonisation of family law derived from human assisted reproductive technology”] (DER2017-85756-P); a project under the Prometeo Programme for research groups of excellence (CIPROM/2022/40); the receipt of funding under the María Zambrano Programme for attracting international talent; and the participation in the University of Alicante Research Chair in Notarial Law and the ENIA-UA Research Chair in Ethical and Responsible Artificial Intelligence.
The group members have carried out 248 research dissemination activities, such as participating in or organising conferences and giving lectures.
Over the last few years, the group has published 48 works in scientific journals (including electronic journals), 109 book chapters and more than seven monographs.
