The Research Group on Foreign Trade and Internationalization carries out applied research, technical advisory, and knowledge transfer activities aimed at supporting decision-making by public administrations, economic promotion agencies, business institutions, and international organizations. Its work focuses on the analysis of business internationalization processes, external competitiveness, and the economic impact of international trade on regional and sectoral development.
Among the group’s main services are the design and implementation of applied research projects, the preparation of reports and diagnostics on international competitiveness, the analysis of export structures and productive specialization, as well as the development of tools and indicators to measure the degree of internationalization of firms, sectors, or territories. The group also collaborates in the evaluation of public policies supporting internationalization and export promotion, providing empirical evidence to improve their design and effectiveness.
From a methodological perspective, the group employs advanced quantitative techniques, including econometric methods applied to firm-level microdata, international trade analysis, and the exploitation of national and international statistical databases. These tools allow the analysis of trade patterns, the identification of determinants of external competitiveness, and the assessment of the economic impact of internationalization.
In addition, the group participates in competitive research projects at the national and international levels, develops specialized training activities in international trade and applied economics, and provides technical advisory services to public and private institutions interested in improving their internationalization strategies and positioning in global markets.
