He holds a Degree and a Master in Mechanical Engineering from the University of the Basque Country and a PhD in Engineering of Materials and Structures from the University of Alicante.

After completing his studies in Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering in Bilbao, he worked at IDOM, Engineering & Consulting in the field of design of civil construction projects. He was involved in projects such as the structures and foundations of the combined cycle power station "Bahía Bizkaia Electricidad" and the upgrading of production lines at the "Acería Compacta Bizkaia" in Sestao (Vizcaya). He also formed part of the quality management system of the company as head of standards control and internal auditor.

In the 2001-2002 academic year, he was an Associate Lecturer in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering at the School of Engineering (University of the Basque Country) in Bilbao. From April 2003 to January 2007 he was Associate Lecturer in the Dept. of Structures and Construction at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena.

He is currently Senior Lecturer in the Dept. of Civil Engineering at the University of Alicante, where he has been a lecturer and researcher since February 2007. He has been lecturing in Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures and Composite Steel and Concrete Structures, in the masters in Architecture, Geological Engineering and Civil Engineering, and in the degree in Civil Engineering. He has supervised more than 40 Degree/Master Thesis Projects.

At the University of Alicante he has held the positions of Head of Studies of the Degree in Civil Engineering, Deputy Director of Infrastructures and Spaces of the Technical School and Director of the Secretariat of Spaces of the University of Alicante.
