He joined Instituto Bernabeu in 1997 and currently serves as Director of the Reproductive Biology Unit and Assisted Reproduction Laboratories. Since 2001, he has held leadership roles in embryology and presently acts as Embryology Coordinator for R&D Projects within the Instituto Bernabeu Group, leading the development and clinical validation of innovative technologies in sperm selection, embryo culture, cryopreservation, and artificial intelligence applied to embryology.

Dr. Ten is a Senior Clinical Embryologist certified by the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and by ASEBIR, a distinction that recognizes his professional expertise at the highest European standard.

He has participated in more than 40 research projects as principal investigator or collaborator, including randomized clinical trials and competitively funded initiatives supported by public and private institutions such as the Spanish Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI). He is co-author of a Spanish patent (U202431456; ES1312718) and a European patent and industrial design (EUIPO 015101229-001 / 015101229-002) related to an innovative sperm selection device for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). This development was awarded the ASEBIR Innovation Award at the 2023 ASEBIR Congress.

Dr. Ten has authored and co-authored more than 50 peer-reviewed scientific publications indexed in JCR and Scopus, in journals such as Reproductive BioMedicine Online, Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics, Reproductive Biology and Endocrinology, and Reproductive Sciences. His research interests include embryo implantation failure, sperm DNA integrity and selection strategies, embryo culture optimization, cryopreservation techniques, and AI-based predictive models in assisted reproduction.

He has been Associate Professor in the Department of Biotechnology at the University of Alicante since 2008, is a member of the Chair of Reproductive Medicine at Miguel Hernández University, and lectures in master’s programs at the Complutense University of Madrid and the University of Alicante. He currently supervises two PhD candidates and has supervised more than 20 Bachelor’s and Master’s theses.

Dr. Ten combines clinical practice, research leadership, and academic training, focusing on improving implantation processes and advancing innovation-driven laboratory strategies in assisted reproduction.
