Dr. Daniel Ruiz Fernández (PhD, Eng) is a computer engineer and received his PhD degree in Computer Science Engineering from the University of Alicante in 2003. He is a professor in the department of Computer Technology at the University of Alicante lecturing in Computer Science degrees and masters. His areas of interest are medical informatics, e-health, telemedicine, decision support systems and clinical data analysis. He is also the academic coordinator of the E-heatlh degree at the University of Alicante and co-founder of the research group of medical informatics (IBIS research group). He has been the leader of numerous national and regional projects focused in medical informatics and he has published his works in national and international conferences and also in JCR indexed journals. He is a member of the Spanish Society of Medical Informatics and the Spanish Society of Biomedicla Engineering. He is also a senior member of IEEE society.
