He received his MSc degree in Physics from the University of La Laguna (Tenerife) in 1987, his Master's thesis from University of Valencia in 1996 and PhD degree in Astrophysics (extraordinary doctorate award) from University of Alicante (2007). In 1991 he passed a competitive examination to become a secondary school mathematics teacher. Since 1996 he has held various teaching posts at the University of Alicante, all of them in the Departament of Physics, Systems Engineering and Signal Theory where he has taught Applied Physics for engineering and architecture degrees: University School Associate Professor (partial time, 1996-2002), University School Professor (2002-2010) and Tenured University Professor (since 2010).
The spreading of astronomy has also been an important part of his professional activity, participating and/or organizing conferences, including public observations with telescopes since 2001.
