J. Emiliano Ramírez García, PhD, is an assistant lecturer at the University of Alicante. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a Bachelor of Science in Labour Studies. He obtained his PhD in the ‘Communication, Behaviour and Society’ research area, with a thesis entitled Las visitas a domicilio desde el Trabajo Social (‘Home visits from a social work perspective’). He has worked professionally since 1996 as a social worker and manager at a social services company (GRIAM Proyectos Psicosociales) and subsequently as a civil servant at Aspe Town Council as a school social worker. At the same time, he has worked in the private sector as a mediator and as a family and couples therapist, accredited by the Spanish Federation of Family Therapy Associations (FEATF). He currently lectures on the Master’s Degree in Development Cooperation at the University of Alicante and collaborates with the Miguel Hernández University of Elche on the Master’s Degree in Social and Community Intervention and the Master’s Degree in Family Therapy, alongside the IAF (Alicante Family Institute) team (2018). He is part of the teaching team at the Alicante Provincial Council, providing training on suicide prevention to municipal staff and members of the Alicante Professional Association of Social Workers; he also trains teachers through the CEFIRE programme.
