Francisco A. Pujol is an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Technology and Computation. He obtained a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1998 and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering from the University of Alicante in 2001. Since 2008, he has been a member of the "CAD/CAM/CAE of the University of Alicante: UniCAD" research group. From December 2020 to March 2023, he served as Secretary of the Ph.D. Programme in Computer Science at the University of Alicante. Since March 2023 he is Secretary of the University Institute of Computer Research at the University of Alicante.
He has extensive accredited experience in teaching and research, with four research assessment periods ("sexenios") to date. His research focuses on the development of technologies and algorithms for computer vision, robotics, and blockchain. He has published more than 130 articles in international journals and conferences on topics related to Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Robotics, among others.
In terms of teaching, he has five recognized teaching periods ("quinquenios") and currently teaches courses in the Bachelor's Degrees in Computer Engineering and Robotics Engineering, as well as in the Master's Degree in Automation and Robotics.
Regarding scientific outreach, Francisco A. Pujol has focused his efforts on knowledge transfer to society through educational robotics. In this area, he has organized various robotics-related activities at all editions of the "Nit de la Investigació" (European's Research Night) at the University of Alicante, has collaborated for several years in the "Desafío Robot (Robot Challenge)" competition at the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia, and has been the organizer of the local competition of the FIRST LEGO League at the University of Alicante since the 2019/2020 academic year.
