Juan Carlos Pomares Torres – PhD contract lecturer – Architectural technologist in execution of works (1993), Master’s Degree in Construction Management (2009), Undergraduate Degree in Architectural Technology (2012) and PhD from the University of Alicante (2012). The research for his PhD was conducted at the University of Alicante’s Department of Civil Engineering. He received the following awards for the research works related to his thesis: first prize at the 13th Awards for Research and Studies on Occupational Risk Prevention (awarded by the Valencia Region branch of the CSIF trade union, 2011); honorary mention at the 16th European Awards for Architectural Technology in Construction Safety (Spain’s General Board of Architectural Technology, 2013); and Research Award at the 3rd National Contest for Occupational Safety and Health (Technical Advisory Committee of the journal Formación de Seguridad Laboral, 2014). A former associate lecturer (2001-2008), assistant lecturer (2008-2014) and PhD assistant lecturer (2015-2018) at the University of Alicante, he became a PhD contract lecturer in 2018. His research experience focuses on the study of collective and individual protection systems under impact to prevent people from falling from heights. He has conducted studies on corrosion in steel reinforcement commonly employed in reinforced concrete structures. Mr Pomares is currently working on a simple construction system, based on concrete pieces able to generate basic housing modules for use in developing countries or areas. In 2017 he was principal investigator on two emerging projects, funded respectively by the Valencia Region Government and Fundación Prevent. His research work has allowed him to co-author more than 9 JCR-indexed science articles and submit over 21 papers at national and international conferences. In his professional career, he worked as a technician in the execution of construction works at several companies for more than 15 years.
