Ana Belén Plaza Puche (ORCID number 0000-0001-8111-5093) holds a PhD in Clinical-Surgical Sciences from the Miguel Hernández University of Elche, where she received the Outstanding Dissertation Award. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Optics and Optometry from the University of Alicante, where she also completed a Master’s degree in Advanced Optometry and Vision Sciences.

Ana Belén is member of the university’s Optics and Visual Perception Research Group. She was part of the optometry team in the R&D department of the VISSUM Ophthalmology Clinic in Alicante from 2007 to June 2025, specializing in refractive surgery, intraocular lenses, and optical quality.

She has published 57 scientific articles in journals indexed in SCImago. These publications focus on visual outcomes and optical quality in patients undergoing cataract surgery with different IOL implants and laser refractive surgery. She is also  author of 10 book chapters and 130 contributions to national and international conferences in the same field. Thanks to her scientific career, she has achieved an H-index of 30.
