Jose-Luis Oliver (Madrid, 1969) earned a Msc. Degree in Architecture in the Polytechnic University of Valencia in 1994. That year, he became a trainee researcher in the School of Architecture in Valencia, in the field of Theory of Architecture; he completed a Master in Historical and Heritage Architecture in 1999; he finished his PhD in Architecture in 2004. As a PhD student, Mr. Oliver received a grant from the Alicante-based Juan Gil-Albert Culture Institute, and his PhD Thesis earned the same year the PhD Special Award of the Chamber of Architects on Valencia Community. 

As an architect he has been a practitioner running his own firm in partnership with architect Isaac Peral, working as well as a Chief Architect for the Municipality of Los Montesinos (Alicante) and as an external consultant for the Heritage Office of Valencia’s Government. 

As a professor, he has been working in the University of Alicante since 1998 in the Faculty of Architecture, from 2017 as an Associated Professor developing this activity in the Bachelor Degree, Master of Architecture and in Doctorate Programs. He has participated in International teaching workshops in architecture in Berlin, Amsterdam, Copenhagen or Quito, and developing teaching staff in Schools of Architecture from Iceland, Italy, Germany, Great Britain, Japan or Costa Rica.

He has been Coordinator for International Programs of the Polytechnic School of Alicante, from 2008 since 2013; Head of the Department of Graphic Expression, Theory of Architecture, and Project Design from 2018 to 2020. Since January 2021 he is Director of Mobility Secretariat, Office of the Vice President of International Relationships in the University of Alicante. 

He has received competitive public grants from the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness developing his research activity in the multidisciplinar group ANVIDA (https://web.ua.es/es/anvida/anvida.html)
