After graduating in Geography and History from the University of Alicante (UA), she received the First National Award for Excellence in Academic Performance (1993). She earned a PhD in History from the University of Alicante (1997). She was given two pre-doctoral research fellowships, one from the Spanish National Research Council (1991) and one from the Valencia Region Government (1992), as well as a grant from the Valencia Region Government's University Researcher Training programme to carry out her PhD from 1992 to 1996.
Today she is a professor in Contemporary History at the UA Department of Contemporary Humanities. He has been director of the University Institute for Gender Studies Research of the same organisation (2015-2019).
She has conducted research stays at the Université d’Aix-en-Provence and at the Università degli Studi Roma Tre.
