D. David Mas obtained his MsC and PhD in Physical Sciences at the University of Valencia in 1995 and 1999 respectively. In October 1998 he joined the Optics Department at the University of Alicante as Assistant Prof. (1998-2002), and Associate Prof. (2002-2017). He is currently Full Professor in Optics,.

He has fulfilled long stays at the University of Tel Aviv (with Prof. Mendlovic) and at the Technical University of Wroclaw (with Prof. Kasprzak). He has also taken short stays at University College Dublin (Prof. Sheridan) and at Bar-Ilan University (Prof. Zalevsky).

The main subject of his research has been applied optics and advanced techniques for image processing, with application to different areas. His research can be grouped in three periods: the first one, in the predoctoral years, he dedicated to the study and proposal of algorithms for the calculation of Fractional Fourier transform. During the second period, already at the University of Alicante, he applied light propagation algorithms to the analysis of propagation inside the human eye, which served as a tool for the study of corneal and ocular morphology. Finally, during the last years he has been focused on the study and proposal of non-invasive methods of measurement with subpxel resolution.

All the research carried out so far has resulted in the publication of  more than 50 international papers on the ISI list, half of them in high ranked journals. In addition, Dr. Mas has presentedcommunications in more than 50 national and international meetings and has co-directed 4 PhD. He has also managed seven research projects as a principal investigator with a combined budget of 167800 eur and has participated in 16 projects as a full-time collaborator.
