I obtained my Ph.D. in insect biology (Diptera: Syrphidae) previously unknown in Spain. These studies contributed to the understanding of the hoverfly biodiversity of Iberian ecosystems, as well as tropical and desert areas in Central America and Africa. More than 70 new species have been added to world knowledge. My focus has been on the functional morphology of adult and larval hoverflies, providing key data for the conservation strategies of natural and agricultural biocontrol. For the last 25 years, my research has focused on hoverfly host species, larvae as predators, playing a significant role in the biological control of greenhouse pests.

- Founder of BioNostrum, a Biological Control Company originating as a University spin-off, and efforts in knowledge transfer through scientific conferences and collaboration with agricultural workers and cooperatives, have positioned this hoverfly in the international catalog of biological control agents offered by leading companies in the sector.

- Supervised of 14 doctoral theses, with which I have focused on species acting as biological control agents to enhance Integrated Pest Management.

- Over the past 10 years, scientific results have been presented at 15 National Congresses and 26 International Congresses, including 3 plenary sessions. This research has been carried out with my participation in over 50 competitive research projects funded by Public Organizations, with 15 of them as the Principal Investigator.
