Dr. Rafael Maestre Ferriz is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Alicante and the University of Miguel Hernandez, in the Department of Computation and Information Technology and the Department of Communications Engineering respectively. His main professional and research position is as Head of Department, Electronics and Home Automation, at the Technological Centre CETEM.
PhD from the Complutense University of Madrid under the doctoral program of Information and Computer Systems, during which he carried out several research stays at the University of California at Irvine (UCI). He has an extensive international experience as a Project Manager and lead researcher in various relevant R&D positions in both academia and US companies, including Qualcomm and the start-up Morpho Technologies. He has served as project coordinator, technical manager, working group leader and main researcher of different EU (H2020 and FP7) and national projects, including more than 30 R&D projects funded with competitive R&D project grants, as well as many other company-funded ones. Dr. Maestre has been teaching ICT and Electronic Design courses at three different universities for over 15 years, and holds 11 patents currently in force, 3 book chapters, and numerous international publications, one of them recognised by IEEE with the IEEE Trans. on VLSI best paper award for part of this doctoral research.
