In 2016, he was awarded a three-year competitive FPI scholarship from the Universitat de Lleida (UdL) to pursue his PhD in the Neurocognition, Psychobiology of Personality and Behavioural Genetics group at the Lleida Biomedical Research Institute (IRB-Lleida). Additionally, in 2019, he received a one-year scholarship from IRB-Lleida to complete his PhD. He completed his PhD at the IRB-Lleida as part of the Doctorado en Salud program (Universitat de Lleida). His doctoral thesis investigated the role of the prefrontal cortex in cognitive and emotional processes, as well as its relationship with different personality factors. It was unanimously qualified as 'Excellent Cum Laude', and he also received the International Mention and the Extraordinary Doctorate Award. Additionally, in 2019, he was awarded a Campus Iberus Erasmus+ scholarship for a three-month stay at the Emotional Perception Laboratory (Università di Bologna, Italy). In 2022, he received a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowship at the Psychoneurobiology of Eating and Addictive Behaviors Group (Neurosciences Programme, Instituto de Investigación Biomédica de Bellvitge).
