Graduated in Law by the University of Alicante, Professor Lopez Richart received the extraordinary doctorate award for his doctoral thesis on contracts for the benefit of third parties in 2001. In 2003 he held the qualification of university lecturer in private law. Between 2007 and 2013 he held the position of Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Faculty of Law of the University of Alicante. After a year as Visiting Scholar at Cornel University, he took over as Director of the Magister Lvcentinvs, Master in Intellectual Property, in 2014 holding this position until 2017. Currently, Professor Lopez Richart is, along with Professor Raquel Evangelio Llorca, the leader of the research project "Legal Instruments to facilitate access to copyrighted content in the digital single market", funded by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness. He also coordinates the first Joint European Doctorate Program on IP (EIPIN Innovation Society) funded by the European Commission within the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, International Training Networks (ITN).

His main research interest is in intellectual property and new technologies, regularly teaching these topics at different universities in Spain and abroad.
