Berta Lillo-Gutiérrez graduate in History and master’s in history of Contemporary Europe: Identities and Integration, is currently a pre-doctoral fellow in the Department of Contemporary Humanities at the University of Alicante, where she is working on her doctoral thesis on the construction of the Spanish national idea and models of masculinity and femininity in the context of the Great War. Her main line of research revolves around the national image in contemporary times from a gender perspective, with special attention to the monarchical institution. She has also worked on issues related to literature as a historical source, the press, and satirical caricature. She has published several works in journals and collective works, as well as a book entitled Nación masculina vs. nación femenina: la imagen de la neutralidad española durante la Primera Guerra Mundial, which won an award and has been published by the IUIEG in its Lilith Joven collection. She has also participated in various conferences and seminars such as the VII edition of Investigando en Femenino (2019), the I Congreso Internacional. Historia y Literatura (2020), the II Congreso Internacional de jóvenes investigadores en Historia Moderna y Contemporánea (2021) and the XIII Jornadas de Investigación Histórica.
