David Guijarro was born in Alicante in 1967. He received his BSc in Chemistry (1990) from the University of Alicante. He got his PhD in Chemistry (1994) at the same University under the supervision of Professors Miguel Yus and Balbino Mancheño working in the field of the preparation of organolithium reagents. He received the Outstanding Doctoral Award (1996). He did a postdoctoral stay at the University of Uppsala (Sweden) (1995-1997) under the supervision of Professors Pher G. Andersson and David Tanner, after which he rejoined Prof. Miguel Yus’ group at the Department of Organic Chemistry of the University of Alicante. In 2000, he got a position as University College Professor, and he became Associate Professor in 2003. From 2003 to 2011 he was Professor of University and currently is Full Professor. He has been visiting scientist at the University of Warwick (Coventry, UK) with Prof. Martin Wills (2009). His current research interests are focused on asymmetric synthesis, especially in stereoselective additions of organozinc reagents to carbonyl compounds and imines and in reduction processes of the same kind of compounds by hydrogen transfer reactions. He is co-author of around 60 publications in international journals and two book chapters. He was co-founder of the chemical company MEDALCHEMY, S.L.
