His main research area focuses on the study of the material culture, territory and the social dynamics of the Iberian and Roman times in the eastern area of ¿¿the Iberian Peninsula. He also focuses his research on the archaeological analysis of the Landscape in the context of the Ancient Mediterranean, with the applications of geospatial techniques, especially GIS, in Archaeology.
His formation was developed mainly at the University of Alicante, completing with research stays at the Universidad Católica del Norte (Antofagasta, Chile) (1995), at the University of Southampton (United Kingdom) (1998) and the Center for Advanced Spatial Technologies of the University of Arkansas (USA) (1999). He has carried out research stays at the University of Southampton (2001-2003), at Northern Arizona University (USA) (2008) at Brown University (USA) (2016), Leiden Universiteit (Netherlands) (2017-2018), Université de Bordeaux-Montaigne (2021) and Universität Hamburg (2022 y 2023).
In addition to his academic activity at the UA, he is a professor in the postgraduate course in Space Technologies at the IAM-INCIPIT of the CSIC (2015-current), in the doctorate in Space Archeology at the U. Jaén (2013-current) and in the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Cultural Landscapes of the UNIA and U. Jaén (2021-present).
He has approved four research periods (sexenios) the last of which dates from 2021. He is director of the Department of Prehistory and Archeology of the University of Alicante (2021-present). Together with S. Gutiérrez, he promoted the creation and coordinated the Master's Degree in Professional Archeology and Comprehensive Heritage Management at the UA (2007-2010). He is an evaluator for different national and international agencies (DEVA, AGAUR, FWO-Vlaanderen, MIAS, ERC-H2020-MSCA) and manager of the scientific area: Past Studies: History and Archeology (PHA) of the Spanish Research Agency (2021 -present).
