José Carlos González Gómez completed his M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry in 1998 at the University of Havana (Cuba) and his Ph.D. in 2003 at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), under the guidance of Prof. Eugenio Uriarte. After two years of postdoctoral experience (2005-2006) in Erick M. Carreira group at the ETH in Zurich, he moved to the University of Alicante in 2007. He was initially appointed at this university as ¨Juan de la Cierva¨ researcher (2007-2009), then promoted to Assistant Professor (2009-2012), and finally (2012-up to now) to Associate Professor in the Department of Organic Chemistry. He has also been Research Associate at Boston University in 2009 and is member of the Institute of Organic Synthesis (ISO) in Alicante University. His research interests are in the field of organic synthesis of bioactive compounds, the development of green protocols in organic synthesis using radical chemistry and photoredox catalysis with visible light.
