23 years of research experience are supported by my participation in 19 research projects, 6 of which belong to the National R&D Plan. My work includes 1 granted national patent with prior examination and 24 publications in indexed journals (JCR). Notably, I appear as the first author in 7 of these publications. The quality and impact of the articles are reflected in the number of citations (682, Web of Science), with an h-index of 14.

Other merits include peer-reviewing articles upon request, organizing conferences, and undertaking several short research stays at prestigious institutions (University of Alcalá, Institute of Neurosciences of Alicante-CSIC, Biological Research Center-CSIC) within the framework of scientific collaborations.

As part of my internationalization activities, I earned my PhD from a foreign institution, University College Cork, Ireland, in 2006. For my doctoral thesis, I received funding from the Irish government through a research project grant for 3.5 years. Throughout my career, I have also obtained a predoctoral scholarship (FPI) and two postdoctoral contracts (I3P and Juan de la Cierva) in competitive public calls from the Spanish Science and Technology System, which have allowed me to work at various Public Research Organizations (OPIs) and achieve a high degree of specialization.

Since 2014, I have combined my research work with teaching, holding positions as Assistant Professor (2014–2019) and Associate Professor (2019–present) in the Department of Optics, Pharmacology, and Anatomy at the University of Alicante. I coordinate 3 courses within the Bachelor's degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Speech Therapy, and the Master's in Biomedicine. I also teach in the Bachelor's in Optics and Optometry. Additionally, I have supervised 1 doctoral thesis, 15 Master's theses, and 27 Bachelor's theses.
