From an academic point of view, his participation in various national and international projects has allowed him to work in various fields of geographic science (biogeography, geographic information technologies, geomorphology and, especially, historical geography). Highlights include the analysis of habitats of plant and insect species (habitats of Phlebotominae, Helianthemum caput-felis or Genista longipes, among others), natural risks of geomorphological origin (especially intervened river systems), along with the reconstruction of land uses and covers, in relation to the traditional organization of space in historical societies and its environmental consequences.
In addition to his teaching and research work, he has participated in numerous research contracts with private companies and public administrations, related to the conservation and management of endemic and protected flora, natural hazards and he has made inventories intended to highlight natural, documentary and hydraulic heritage.
